Break off a small chunk of each coloured clay and roll into long thin (snake-like) pieces. These can vary in length and width. Then, twine the long pieces together.
Mix together into a ball and with the rolling pin, flatten and smooth over.
With your mould, cut out 5 circles. Make sure the base of the coaster is completely smooth and level, otherwise your coaster won't be stable.
Once dried, give the coasters a quick sand to smooth over any rough edges.
With a thin paintbrush, coat the sides of the coaster with gold paint. Apply a second layer if necessary, once first layer is dry.
Once the paint is completely dry, spray a water based sealant to lock in the colours and to make the coaster water proof.
